On Sunday, February 23, WORD hosted the 24th Annual Fun Fish event at Camp Huaco Springs in New Braunfels.

Trophies were presented to participants who caught the longest fish in their age group.  Below are this year’s winners:

Education Station Bingo

During the event, every child was given a bingo card to complete for an opportunity to win raffle prizes.

This year the Education stations were hosted by:

  • TPWD: Aquatic Habitat, Knot Tying, and Casting
  • Comal County Sheriff’s Office
  • Keep Canyon Lake Beautiful
  • South Central Texas Water Safety Coalition
  • Game Warden’s Operation Game Thief Trailer
  • Comal County Conservation Alliance

Parents and kiddos had the opportunity to go through the stations to play water safety games, participate in a wildflower seed-bomb building, and other fun activities. Kids had a blast participating in the education stations and were eager to enter the raffle to win prizes such as free tickets to:

  • Alamo Drafthouse
  • Stars & Stripes Drive-in
  • Animal World & Snake Farm
  • Natural Bridge Caverns
  • Canyon Lake Gorge
  • And a Grand Prize of a FREE 2-day Camping Trip at Guadalupe River State Park along with your very own Camping Kit! This kit comes with a tent, sleeping bag, backpack, lawn chair and more!

In addition to these prizes, four tagged fish were caught, making a total of $125 in cash prize awards given out.
